- Debian OS v12.13
- FreePBX® Framework v17.0.28
- Asterisk v21.12.1
- Quarterly Update Roll-Up for New Instances – Modules and Packages updated
- ALTERED DEFAULTS FOR NEW INSTANCE LAUNCHES:
- Asterisk SIP Settings > General SIP Settings: RTP Keep Alive = 15 Seconds to account for recent changes to AT&T networks that results in calls being dropped during extended silences on the PBX side, such as while callers are recording a VM Message. This should have no material effect to other call destinations and merely reflects tightening RTP parameters being implemented by other Carriers.
- Asterisk SIP Settings > SIP Settings (chan_pjsip): Keep Alive Interval = 30 Seconds to account for modern NAT Gateways that only leave UDP ports open for up to 30s when there is no traffic. This will result in more stable idle connections for endpoint devices and less risk of missed calls (SIP INVITEs) in certain environments.
- NOTE: EXISTING INSTANCES UPDATING WILL NOT RECEIVE THESE CHANGES AND SHOULD ALTER THEIR CONFIG ACCORDINGLY, ESPECIALLY IF YOU’VE STARTED NOTICING DROPPED HOLD/VM CALLS!
- Further Testing and Compatibility Tweaks for IMDSv2 – TO BE EXPLICITLY ENABLED STARTING WITH v17.6!
- Note: While IMDSv2 support has been added, IMDSv2-only mode has not yet been explicitly set as the launch default in our AMI. You must manually select IMDSv2-only mode at Instance launch to enable it. We are planning to enable IMDSv2-only mode for our AMIs starting with v17.6 (projected to be the final AMI of 2026). If you are using IMDS in your deployment stack, you will need to update those scripts and applications to use IMDSv2 by that time. In the meantime, Instances will continue to launch with both v1 and v2 support. If you don’t know what any of this means, it likely doesn’t apply to you, as the Instance Meta Data Service is used internally to programmatically retrieve important information about the instance and AWS environment. We use it for things like setting the default GUI admin password to the Instance ID at launch.
